Eric Lloyd Wright is an esteemed Los Angeles architect, who just happens to come from architectural royalty. His grandfather was none other than the late Frank Lloyd Wright, widely referred to as 'the greatest American architect of all-time' . If that wasn't enough, Eric Lloyd Wright's father was also a notable architect, who went by the name Lloyd Wright (confused yet?). With being born into such a bloodline, it seems only natural that Eric would follow suit.

Eric Lloyd Wright worked in his grandfather's (1948-1956) and father's (1956-1978) firm as an apprentice architect. He received his license as an architect in 1967 before establishing his own firm Eric Lloyd Wright Architects and Planners in 1978. With such an upbringing it is fitting that Eric follows the design concept put forth by his grandfather, termed Organic Architecture.

Organic Architecture is not so much about the physical walls and the roof but more about the integration of ecology, social responsibility and beauty that a space within a building can produce. Whilst following these basic principles of Organic Architecture, Eric Lloyd Wright still forged his own path in his interpretation and implementation of Organic Architecture to his designs. Eric was a firm believer in that one of the most important parts of the design process is the relationship between the client, the site and the architect.

It was with this thought process that Eric Lloyd Wright began the design of the Ross House in the 1970's , enabling him to finally emerge from his father’s shadow and showcase his architectural independence.

When life long social advocate Ruth Ross decided to redesign her Spanish-style bungalow it was Eric Lloyd Wright's name that was put forward by a mutual friend, the acclaimed writer Anais Nin (who was married to Eric's half-brother) and since then the Ross House has become a renowned landmark and Silver Lake real estate gem.

Being surrounded by other notable Silver Lake real estate properties designed by the likes of Richard Neutras and John Lautner, this Lloyd Wright designed house is in good company. Inspired by the spirit of the Southwest, whilst adhering to organic architecture philosophy, the Ross House was intended to be both a home and a gallery for the Ross Collection of Native American and primitive art.
